Put my son at ease and did a good job of explaining to him what was happening. The dentist doing the braces was wonderful, careful, pleasant and fast,

The alternative to NHS braces

If your child does not qualify for orthodontic treatment or you want to explore other treatment options for them, we are pleased to offer private treatment.

Having treatment privately means you can start treatment almost immediately and will have access to our full range of braces including Damon Clear and Invisalign.

Treatment cost

From £2,034

Treatment time

18 - 24 months

Process

The process starts with a free consultation with one of our specialist orthodontists who will undertake a thorough examination and discuss with you the best treatment options.

You will be shown the different types of braces and will have all your questions answered. You may opt for traditional braces, our most cost-effective option, or look at a brace which is almost invisible such as Damon Clear or Invisalign.

Once you have decided on which brace you would like, we will see your child again for a records appointment where accurate measurements and photographs will be taken to allow us to plan the treatment. A digital impression will be taken of your child's teeth, along with an X-Ray will also be used in the treatment planning process. We know how keen patients are to start treatment so we won’t keep you waiting and will schedule an appointment for your child’s brace to be fitted at a time that is suitable for you and them. If you have decided on Invisalign, there is an additional step where, upon receipt of your impressions, they produce an animation of all the tooth movements during treatment, this is called a ‘clin-check’, and will be used to ensure you are happy with the treatment plan before the aligners are manufactured.

Frequently asked questions about private teen treatment

Do you have a treatment coordinator?

Yes, Lamia & Leah are our treatment coordinators and they will look after you throughout your treatment.

Can I talk with someone who has had braces as an adult?

Yes, several of our team have had braces or are undergoing treatment and they will be delighted to talk to you about their experience.

Can I get treatment at the same time as my child?

Yes, it’s great when several members of the family get braces at the same time. You can attend appointments together, share in the experience and celebrate your amazing new smiles together!

Are your consultations really free?

Yes, we make no charge for our consultations as we feel you should have the opportunity to explore treatment options without having to worry about paying a fee

Do you offer payment plans?

Yes, we offer 0% Finance.

How do you keep my teeth clean with braces?

It’s important that you brush your teeth at least twice a day, taking time to clean around the brackets and wires with an interdental brush. It will take longer to clean your teeth but the investment in your oral health will certainly be worth it.

How long does treatment take?

Most of our patients complete treatment in around 18 months but this can be longer or shorter depending on what needs to be done. We’ll let you know how long we think treatment will take at the start.

Will I need elastics?

Elastics help to move certain teeth or to change the relationship between your upper and lower teeth. During the planning stage we will let you know if you are likely to need elastics.

What foods should I avoid with braces?

If you have Invisalign, you can continue to eat as normal as you will take your aligners out for eating. If you have fixed braces, you need to avoid anything hard, sticky or too chewy as these can damage your brace.

How often do I need to attend an appointment?

We are likely to see you every four to six weeks so we can check on progress.

Can I get coloured ligatures?

Yes, if you elect for traditional brackets, you can change the colours of your elastic ligatures at every appointment. If you have Damon brackets, they have a clever slide and lock mechanism so you won’t need elastic ligatures.

Do braces hurt?

No, it may take you a couple of days to get used to them and there may be some minor discomfort for a few days but we find most people quickly adapt to having braces.

Extremely happy with the service received from this clinic. Everyone is patient and friendly. Specially thanks to Lamia, a young lady with passion and professional attitude, who makes my daughter and me feel at ease straight away. Also Dr Wood is brilliant!

Is private teen treatment expensive?

With prices starting from just £2,499* for our traditional range of braces and generous payment instalment plans, we think orthodontic treatment is more affordable than it has ever been.

Orthodontic treatment is an investment in the long term oral health of your child not to mention the confidence a great smile gives at a time when they developing into young adults and getting ready for further education or entering employment.

Will they still need to see their dentist during orthodontic treatment?

Yes, it’s important that they continue to visit their dentist regularly during orthodontic treatment.

Although we will keep a close eye on their overall oral health throughout treatment, your own dentist will work closely with us ensuring their teeth remain healthy throughout treatment and long after their braces have been removed.

What about retainers?

At the end of treatment, it is important that your child wears their retainers or all the hard work will be undone.

Braces move the teeth into the ideal position but retainers are used to keep them there! Without retainers, teeth can start to move back, this is called relapse, so wearing retainers after treatment is important if they want to keep their amazing new smile. The cost of retainers is included in the treatment fee so that’s one less thing to have to worry about.
